Amit Datta is a lecturer at USTC’s Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, joining the university in 2023 He has a strong background in genetic and molecular research with expertise in genetic polymorphisms epigenetics and molecular mechanisms underlying diseases such as cardiovascular disease autism spectrum disorder and systemic lupus erythematosus Before USTC Amit worked as a Laboratory Research Officer on an NIH-funded project in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University and as a Research Assistant at the Functional Genomics and Proteomics Laboratory University of Chittagong

During the COVID-19 pandemic Amit led a COVID-19 testing laboratory team for over two years training volunteers in molecular detection methods and biosafety protocols His research interests also extend to molecular cloning and transgenic plant development

Amit’s research has been published in respected journals including Scientific Reports Toxicology Reports and Molecular Immunology and he has presented extensively at national and international conferences His work has been recognized through the University of Chittagong MPhil Research Fellowship and the National Science and Technology Fellowship for MS research
